SOCHI, RUSSIA- Located on the coast of the Black Sea, and central to the 2014 Sochi Olympic Park, the Medals Plaza hosted 20,000 spectators every evening for the awards ceremony as well as live performances by world famous artists. Sound and lighting contractor, EYZHN, was given the task of providing sound reinforcement for this busy venue. Yiannis Papoutsakis, Sound Director for EYZHN, said “For over a decade we have been working with McCauley Sound products. Our first experience with a McCauley Sound Line Array was the Opening and Closing Ceremonies during the Olympic Games in Athens 2004.” To provide uniform high fidelity sound throughout the space, EYZHN deployed 88 McCauley MLA3 medium format line array modules in 8 arrays. The low frequency was reinforced by 24 MS6 high performance subwoofers in flown bass arrays. On stage, EYZHN flew two arrays of McCauley M.LINE small format line arrays for side fills. Papoutsakis continued, “When the time came to decide what products to use in Sochi, there was no hesitation on the actual brand choice. It has been proven that McCauley Sound products will always assure the sound quality and reliability for such an important event as the Olympic Games.” At McCauley Sound’s recommendation EYZHN chose LAB.GRUPPEN amplification and Lake signal processors to power and process McCauley products used at the venue.
